Why do you live where you live?
Submitted by memtony.
I came to the United States from the Netherlands at the end of 2001. Due to Work, we hopped around Nevada to Wisconsin to Michigan to Ohio to Arizona and back to Ohio.
I live in Dayton Ohio, it's nothing fancy, but a good place to work, start a family, Real Estate is cheap, cost of living is good, standards of living are pretty darn good. People are friendly. Both my husband and I found our peace here.
Ok.. I saw this and had to say something about it. Don't get me wrong I like Sock Monkeys as much as the next gal, but- a sock monkey Dress?
Description by designer:
I knit the entire dress on a knitting machine in my Minneapolis design
studio. There are 30 faces encircling the entire skirt, each with it's
own personal name tag. The gown is fully lined in red satin. I
recommend you wear a full length crinoline skirt under the dress for
added body.
It may just be me.. I understand that it's creative, and the work that must go into it, but is there really a demand for a sock-monkey dress? FESS UP! which one of you would wear this dress?
I signed up with VOX a couple of days ago.. since it was weekend.. I had plenty-a-time to blog : )
There are alot of wonderful things about VOX, lots of great features... but it's missing a key element...
I don't mind the fact that you can't re-arrange the sidebar, I don't mind the google ads every other post, after all this is a free community and it has to be supported somehow, what I do miss is that there is no built-in blogroll/link management.
Speaking for myself - I would like to be able to link to my non-vox friends and their blogs. So that is it.. simple really..
LINK MANAGEMENT - one little table with a couple of fields connected to each person's id...voila done!
I picked up this little sweet fabric and decided it would a good summer top.. I'm a little hippy kinda gal, so below is the style I wanted to go for.
HOWEVER - from the second I started on this project, it has been nothing but trouble. The fabric is really thin, so it's a bit hard to work with, but nothing was aligning, nothing was cutting right.... trouble and more trouble.. This is where I am with it now.. I think I will be placing a zipper in that middle chest area and call it done.. a zipper may actually be what this thing needs :)
Lesson Learned: I need to pay more attention, if you look closely you will see that I cut the fabric upside down, so the little deer and leave pattern is looking up instead of down...
Apart from that little blooper... he's happy : )
I picked up a magazine called Belle Armoire today, because I just couldn't stop looking at that dress. This dress and others are designed by Lindsay Mason and I posted a blog entry over here about Lindsay Mason Couture.. If you like this kind of thing, all the links and so on are in that blog entry.

My mother in-law got me into Teddy Bear making, and these are her creations... she's good : )
